Drug Intervention is Positive Confrontation
When you confront the addicted person, remember that your aim is to convince the person to seek help. It need be angry or aggressive, but be supportive and positive. If you hesitate due to fear or nervousness of the addict’s reaction, remember, the purpose is to help him.
Carefully choose whom to Involve
Choose those people who have experienced the addict’s behavior on drugs. It’s appropriate to include friends, family members or trained interventionist and not a work colleague or casual acquaintance.
Your Tone and What You Say is Important
Though your words express love and concern, if your tone has no disgust or feelings of judgment, the intervention won’t be successful. Encouraging words are likely to be used during family drug intervention works. Be clear that you are supportive
